Kicking my heeled boots to some Tuesday's Tunes...

Have been listening to the 'Wakey! Wakey!' station on Spotify while working lately and it has been fantastic. Love 'Wakey! Wakey!' but the station also has a great mix of smooth mellow pieces mixed with some gravely voices and plenty of great piano :) The best part is finding some more artists I'm loving and rediscovering some I had not listened to in a while.

Just this afternoon I rediscovered how much I love 'Ron Pope' and found a band called 'Glass Pear'. Not only do they have a fantastic name they are fantastic..... I'm a bit of a fan of the unusual and randomish names for things. But then I name everything..... even my wii remotes have names! And always been a fan of 'Tyler Hilton' but his latest album is just something else :)

But the band I wanted to really highlight today is a local band from Perth Australia called 'Village Kid'. They are wonderfully talented musicians who have a great sound. My favourite song is 'Heart of Stone', the lyrics just make my heart want to break and yet at the same time  the song makes me feel uplifted and want to dance! Check it out below and if you like it get on their page and start asking for some more music. Its been too long since they have released anything new.

If you love it as much as I do head to their facebook page :)

Enjoy some tunes this Tuesday.

Kicking my flats at the Cinemas...

I went and saw Wolverine last night......

To start with I was excited to actually get go to the cinemas to see it, usually my friends have kids and don't go to the cinemas or they are more interested in chick flicks or drama/indie films. Now don't get me wrong I like Drama's and Indie films as well but I also love a good action film.

So anyway the film was good. Not quite a "that was freakin' amazing"...but it was good.

I won't go into the storyline. There is way to much to explore there! As I do with most films of that kind I turn my brain off from the social contexts, the male and female roles and I don't look at the portrayal of relationships, I try to just enjoy the fun absurdity of these films.

I do however always notice other elements......
Solid cast. Some fantastic shots. The blocking was very well done for the most part. Some of the shots where a little clunky,I felt the car scenes that had a lot of dialogue could have been a lot smoother.
There were a few stand out scenes for me though..... I'll try and keep spoilers out of this part but sorry if I don't succeed.

1. The first scene with the plane was beautifully done.
2. Loved all the scenes with the Grizzly Bear, even if as a viewer I didn't love the what happened :(
3. The sword through the chest scene.... and that is all I'll say.....
4. The bullet train fight. It was just so wonderfully comic book and I loved the concept and the way it was carried out.

So they were my stand out scenes. I would recommend seeing it. See if you agree with me on the stand out scenes. Maybe there are some others that stand out more?

a small side note: A friend I saw it with noticed that a company name used in the film is the same company name used in Studio 60... see if you can pick it.

I did see some great looking previews as well, have a few films on my list to see now. I had been finding a decline in the quality of films lately but this restored my hope in going to the cinemas again.

A few I'll be trying to see and possibly review soon:

Now you see me

Elysium

Will try and update again on the weekend with some pics of the makeover I'm undertaking on my house.

Slowly getting the kick back

After being sick for a week, and I mean unable to get out of bed at all kind of sick, I'm finally back at work and the LONG list of tasks that come with being off sick for a week. But everything is possible when you have music to keep from going insane... or at least more insane in my case ;)

Today's sanity is from the Gavin DeGraw station on Spotify. Such a great mellow, calming and inspirational station.

So from the uplifting nature that this station has been to me today this week's Manic Monday Fix is a Gavin DeGraw song. It always amazes me just how powerful music can be. In both a possitive and a negative way. Choose songs that uplift and inspire and just watch how great your day can get.

Now to get back to listening to a great station that will be the soundtrack to my day today while I get back to the craziness of work.

Weekend adventures

I have had a crazy week at work with no time to even eat properly let alone blog but the weekend is finally here and so I hope to be able to post a little more. And here's to a more productive week blog wise next week.

So this weekend I'm at ikea the wonderful place in the  middle of my place and my mums primarily to get candles and catch up with my mama.
It may not sound like an exciting outing but the creativity that I get when in ikea is exciting to me. It's a place where I can see so much potential..... A drawer can be revamped into so many things. Today I'm after a dresser of some form that I can turn into my singlet, tops, socks etc home and still keep my NYC loft feel in my room.
I'm looking forward to working our my creative side to create a one of a kind look from the basic simple pieces I'll find here.
I'll keep you all posted with pics as the process continues

Things that amuse me...

So I just had to share this..... I love my stapler at work it is just so small and cute. Here it is next to my blistex so you can see how tiny it is :)  little things amuse me....

Things that inspire me...

The Landfill Harmonic Orchestra.

I was sent this a while ago and just astounded at how inventive and creative these people are.Every time I need that kick in the butt to pursue my dreams I watch this.

The most inspiring part about this for me though is how far people will go to for their passions and how supportive those around them are to help them achieve their dreams. I only hope I can be even half as tenacious as they are for my own passions and as supportive to those around me with theirs.

I only hope and pray that we can all be so passionate in our own dreams and supportive of those we loves dreams as well.

And the kicking starts...

So this is something I should have been doing a while ago but in true me fashion I kept putting it off until finally I realised enough was enough. No more excuses!

So a little about me..... since I'm a little bit of a visual person I feel this card sums me up!

The rest will come out through my posts which will just be about whatever I have going on or have been thinking about. I hope they will be not to sparse but that will depend on how my schedule goes but I will try my best.
